		<description><![CDATA[&#160; Personally, I love quilts and I love the art of quilt-making.  Quilts tell stories. Last week,  I had the pleasure of attending the opening of the Soulful Stitching exhibition at the Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco.  The exhibition featured the works of Siddis women.  I had the pleasure of learning their stories.  Siddis are Indians of African descent.  Some are descendants of African slaves and others African merchants and traders.  Most live in the northwest, south, central and western parts of India. The quilts are a combination of the Indian quilting tradition with the African textile tradition. &#160; I love seeing how various cultures of the world are connected and this exhibition was a beautiful example of the seamless merging on two distinct and breathtaking cultures &#8211; African and Asian. &#160; Each quilt was accompanied by a photo of the woman who created it and a brief description of her quilt’s story. I have a quilt over my bed in my room, which I had an artist named Kathleen  make a quilt from my daughters’ clothing.  It is a beautiful tribute to her memory. &#160; I’m also a lover of batik and textile, so I have a quilt [...]]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[Strength Training – Nothing too intimidating, but just 20 minutes of basic exercises two days a week will help firm and tone the whole body. Strength training will modestly increase metabolism, helping to burn more calories &#8212; even at rest. Start any strength-training program with one set of exercises and a weight that allows the completion of eight to 12 repetitions. Any program should exercise the major muscle groups of the lower body, torso, and upper body. Special attention should also be given to strengthening the core muscles and lower back to help enhance individuals’ functional capabilities for safely engaging in various summer recreational activities. Interval Training - Interval training involves alternating short bursts of intense activity with what is called active recovery, which is typically a less-intense form of the original activity.  Interval training might involve the run walk method where a person runs for 4 minutes, then walks for 2 minutes for the duration of the workout.   It is an extremely time-efficient and productive way to exercise.
