Studies have found that sitting for long periods is unhealthy. We all know that! Numerous journals has indicated that a
sedentary lifestyle is responsible for the every expanding American waistline. Obesity is linked to numerous health diseases. Here are some quick tips for incorporating a few more extra minutes of fitness into your life:
- Walking Meeting. There are lots of times where I have a meeting and I tell the person that I am meeting with to “take a walk” and that is exactly what we do, we take our meeting while walking in a park or other location.
- Get Rid of Your Remote Control. Take those batteries out of the remote control and get up and walk to the TV when you need to change the channel.
- Get Up! Stand Up! When your phone rings, get up from your desk and take your calls on foot.
3. Take a Hike. Don’t park at the nearest parking space, park a couple blocks or a couple hundred yards away from your office and take a brisk walk to your office from your car (and don’t forget to always take the stairs).
4. Keep Your Printer Out of Reach. Encourage yourself to get up at work, by placing your printer out of reach.
